Draw us together, pull us apart and still later draw us near again!

"Draw us together, pull us apart and still later draw us near again!"

How true it is. We are doing out 2nd chapter on "Before You Say I Do" workbook - Uniqueness and Acceptance in Marriage" before our 2nd Pre-Marriage Counseling.

May be we are so used to each other, we struggle in doing the home work.

Making Allowances Because You Each Other - hmmmm ..... never giving it a serious thought. We have been doing all the adjustments but never really putting it a thought about. It's good we start to acknowledge them.

Similarities - couldn't think of it first ... apart from food... ha ha ha .. we love to eat!

Differences - well, we had a lot, but we felt it was good because we felt the differences help us complement each others. It's not a bad thing at all.

Wow, follows by bunch of questions on our history - favourite past time, your nick name, even your sex experience ..... hmm .. getting tough ...

Anyway, there are another section we decide to do it tomorrow.

It was good excersice because we start realize all the uniqueness in our life and acknowledge them!

More home work tomorrow!

Dress to kill - Wedding Gown

Went to MidValley for a Bridal Exhibition 2 days ago. Our intention was to check out what is available.

Pass by this stall where a sales woman from Taiwan was really persevering selling us their Kuilin Wedding photo package. We never have intention to do pre-wedding photo shoot especially at foreign land coz we are not allowed to stay in one room before getting marry.

However, she did convince us to book the wedding gown rental as it was quite fair in price. RM 1,000 for 2 set of wedding gown and 1 suit for me. Not too bad. Considering if I would spend RM 500 for my suit if I buy, then Chai Huey has to rento or buy wedding gown which mat cost between RM 700 to RM 1,000 a set. On top of it, we still could enjoy the discount if we decide on the photo package, which is unlikely.

We went to the SS2 to check out the location, and surf through forum on mail and see the coment. They are not quite good. The fact we book also becasue the style of the wedding gown was very unque as the forum also mentioned.

I did my further research on their website : http://www.chinghua.com/newlyweds_kl.htm/

Quite ok with their wedding gown.

So I guess another item done in our list.

Next got to plan on a big one, if you want to know what .... just follow the blog ...

Wedding Banquet - Finally Booked! 文华轩

Initially we wanted to have it at Klang Hokkien Association Hall so that I can have my friend who is a award winning chef to cook for us. However, my mom has been nagging on me about the hall rental of RM 5,000 (inclusive all except food). She thought might as well save it and have more table. Somehow we have agreed on it with much reluctance.

First I called up Jaya Palace, next to Federal Highway, but they already have booking. So I called Super Extra Tanker Restaurant at The Club. And they have no reservation on that evevning. Immediately I asked the Restaurant Manager to pen down the date for us. She was so nice. In fact, they are the only restaurant collecting 10% depsosit. The rest that I called insisted at least RM 3,000 for the deposit.

Lst night we went over to put our deposit. RM 738 a table with free flow of soft drink and tea. If bring our own beer or liquer, got to hire an extra waiter to serve the liquer or beer, which cost us only RM 60. Not too bad at all!

On top of it, the package comes with invitation card, which the design is really creative! We really love it.

Not only that, she has 3 table cloth colour for us t choose. In fact, they are the colours we wanted, Marron & Gold. God really has a plan for us!

Somehow you got to trust woman instinct. Extra Super Tanker was Chia Huey pick, but I was not very keen. But we somehow end up on this restauarnt, and the goodness keep flowing.

Oh.. another offere, with 20 tables we booked, they gave us another 2 table free! What a bargain!
Chia Huey just has the discernment on many things. Just got to trust her!

That is not all, found out the Chinese name of the restaurant 文华轩 is so similar to my first company name 华轩. Just one word different.

I know the food here is very good as well.

We are extremely happy we got this part settled too.

When rubber really meets the road....

I always have the feeling that somehow the external factors gonna give us challenge on the wedding preparation ...

True enough, my parent and my girlfriend's parent are really ardent to have their way for certain ceremony for the wedding. They want us to bow to ancestors, want to have a mediator (the Chinese traditional lady who said all the prosperity words) at the tea ceremony, to have dinner banquet at certain restaurant.

Both of us are stress out totally. Wondering if this is their wedding or ours?????

Yes, we don't mind seek consult from them on certain aspect of the wedding. But can it have it our way?????

Marriage - Is it all about me?

Was doing homework for the 1st Pre-marriage Counseling. Wow, really get my thought process going. Especially questions like "What do you think your fiance opinion on marriage?" - hmmm... never ask her, about time we talk about it! The question toward her thinking really caught me off guard. The question about my opinion obviously are easy for me.
Such a new revelation, it really taught me to stand her side and see the world. It has always been "ME", "MY VIEW", ..... It's so important we starts looking at her point of view.

Good thing we are starting on the right step!

Also looking at things God intended for us is so curial in marital life.

Can't wait to start our session this evening!

Worship Lead - Larry Lee

Was looking for worship lead for wedding & suddenly Larry pop up in front of me at church. So decided to ask him. He was so cool, immediately agreed to do it for us! Praise God!

1st Swimming Lesson - Cancelled

Somehow, I wanted to canceled the 1st lesson on Monday 15th June 2009 at 8:30pm, but Chia Huey look disappointed. So we decided to go ahead. We took an hour to reach our coach's apartment which is at Taman Melati, another side of town. We got lost twice before we found the aprtment. We ttok wrong exit from DUKE Expressway.

On the way, Chia Huey was asking if the pool gonna open. Somehow, you got to trust woman's intuition. Surely, we found out the pool was closed. Our coach apologise profoundly. Someone had drowned and die in the pool the day before. The management is cleaning the pool.

So we were using the MRR2 Kepong to go home. We drop by at Taman Kepong Baru for snack but eand up over eating again. Duh, we suppose to learn swimming and shed some fat, but end up gaining few!

Anyway, the lesson has been postponed to Saturday morning. Pray that Saturday would be a beautiful day for us to learn swimming.

Work as a team! Confirm Pastor for Solemnisation & Message too!

(source: www.sibkl.org.com.my)

First time ever, we both work as team shooting James & Cissie wedding. Chia Huey has no idea how to use video camera. I had crash course for her(rather teach her the simple stuff like press record, change tape & zoom). She manage it very well, really proud of her! She did the master shot at the ceremony, while I shot on another roaming camera.

While befre that, she was my driver on the way "chip san leong". Kena scolding from me many times while she was murmuring on how she is not used to my car. Sorry dear, bit harsh on you. That's how serious I work. Had a bit of arguement, but we overcome it with sincere sorry. Somehow we forgive one another as we know each have own weakness. I am demanding yet she is but timid on certain issue.

It was definately a tiring day for us, but it is a blessing that we learned how to work with one another. Our love definitely grow stronger.

Oh yes, it's also a blessing as God really have his plan. Met Ps Chew and manage to talked to him about our wedding. Reminded him about our date and he said someone also him to solemise on the same day, but giving him a sceond choice date. Good thing we mentioned to Pastor 2 months ago. Thanks for my Sweetie for keep reminding me to tell Ps Chew about it 2 months ago, and also yesterday.

Bonus is that Ps Lee Choo also promised to speak at our wedding. Prasie God!
Off course, we told them we are toying between choosing a restuarant in PJ for convinient OR good food. Both pastors without much thought go for GOOD FOOD! Good Food that is! Will work on it now on the good food!

Solemniseation : Ps Chew Weng Chee (tick, done!)

Honeymoon, anywhere?

We sort of plan on a budget of RM 2,000 for our honeymoon. Searching through Air Asia and MAS, still realised Air Asia has better rate. Sorry MAS, not gonna take you.
Choice of honeymoon locations:

1) Karbi, Thailand. Estimate RM 800 for both of us on flight, the room there about RM 120 a night. Not too bad. Nice beach, food is quite good!

2) Bali, Indonesia. Flight fare is ok too. Full of cultural activities, beautiful beach and resort, and off course Babi Guling, crackling pork dish!

Anymore ideas?

Wedding Barter Trade - Wedding Photographer

We realised we do not have much money for the wedding. Off course, we also do not want to spend too much on wedding as we rather spend the money on the house.
Meet James and we want us to do his wedding video. They suggest barter trade - we do the wedding video and he will do our wedding photo. Hmmm ..... sound reasonable trade off .... Ok we close the deal! Not too bad, at least save money on photographer.

So, 1 item confirmed. Wedding Photographer - James Chew(http://www.flickr.com/photos/jameschew/) - DONE! (tick)

Many more to come!

Keep it personal

Well, first thing you learn about marriage is communication. For me, I love to tell the world about good news, except my family member. For her, it is the opposite. She like to keep it personal and share it with only family. Had a chat with her over the phone before head back from Johor Bahru, apparently she is not comfortable sharing personal matter. Everyone congrat her and she is startled by it coz I posted, "365 Days to The Big Days" on Facebook. So, I am still deciding if I should close down the blog. Need to communicate more.
The other lesson to learn, the thing you do may seems right, but it may make other people feel awkward like what I did now. Still take a lot of adjustment. Used to be alone and I decide what I do and it doesn't effect others. In this case, I did the blog without her consent. Kinda feel bad.

Welcome 2 Marraige - 365 Days Countdown

It is exactly 365 Days to our Wedding. As most people said, "Wedding is once in a lifetime." I am setting this blog to document what happen in next 365 days to our wedding.

So far, we have inquired quotations from restaurants and hotels, yet we felt we should shop for more.

Tropicana Club looks good and Tai Thong is not too bad RM 683 per table. The rental for Pool Terrace for our wedding solemnization is RM 2,500. No too bad.

We particularly like The Club at Bukit Utama. RM 738 per table but no place for our wedding solemnization. Well, we will do it at church then.

Actually, we want to have our ceremony at church too. Still looking for church - St Paul is only taking Anglican, so that options is out! Some suggest St Andrew, we will check it out!
Anyway, 365 Days to go, we got to work on many other arrangement soon!
